First AM/FM FCC Approval

Many years ago there was a repeater down in the Madera area when I was a youngster, ran on 26 mhz, belonged to a lumber company there.
It was on 24/7 and unknown to the boss, it got some use at nite after the mill shut down lol.
Right below CB channel one and it covered a big area in the central valley.

I was about 20 when the mill shut down and so did the repeater, missed that machine.

Geeze, if it was a duplexed site, imagine the size of those duplexers! Maybe they ran split sites?

Never got to see any of the radio stuff, they closed down, hauled off all of the lumber and equipment and that was the last real mill down there.
At one time they ran logs on a flume down to mills around here and a couple small railroads used to haul trees.
There are still places on the Merced River where you can find part of the old rail line that ran up towards Yosemite.

That reminds me I have to finish checking out the Cobra 2000 I bought last summer because it has extra channels. I know it has upper channels but I have to throw the switches different to see if it has lower channels. Problem is I bought a GE Super Base a while afterwards and started checking it out also. Too many irons in the fire and I've been missing this skip that has been rolling. Before you know it it will be time for getting the lawn equipment and motorcycle ready again for summer. I sure don't get bored ! LOL

Why is there so much hatred for CB being on 27mhz?
Honestly it's not hatred, I come from 11 meters. If it had been on 465mhz skip and noise would not really be an issue that it became nowadays. Amps couldn't be as easily made as they are today, they would require tighter specs therefore higher quality.

Qrz.com is the ham equivalent of Channel 6 on cb, all noise but no substance.
Your opinion of qrz.com is irrelevant. Wherever it happened to be posted, Glen's comments about the 11M former ham band are spot-on.

Start a new thread invite the people the people you disagree with and go there to hash it out.
Like I said, no sabers. Where's the disagreement? W9CLL didn't even disagree with the statement I posted, he just attacked the forum I found it on. I neither agree nor disagree (publicly anyway) with his comment about that forum.
So I guess he can start a thread to bash on qrz.com if he wants, but I won't be joining him there.

Now, if he wants to start a thread to dispute the comments about the former 11M ham band, that's a different story. I still won't join it though, since neither of us have been hams long enough to have first-hand knowledge of 11M as a ham band.
K9STH, the ham whose comments I posted, was around when 11M was a ham band.
