President Lincoln II + DOA

Poor alignment and receive and gave it half a day to acclimate to room temp before trying it. They say this radio is cold blooded but of coarse I didn't read that before I bought it or I would have went with Anytone. Oh well guess I'll have to quit playing this money grabbing game and just run with what I have and not be chasing Rainbows ! LOL
"Cold Blooded"? What page in the manual is that statement?

It is not in the manual it is in the forums with different operators experience. Sort of like the Galaxy radios having a reputation for drifting. It might have come in a Youtube video also which I think I remember seeing. I played with the radio a couple weeks before I set it on the side because I couldn't receive a Austin operator I usually talk to. I'm one of those people who seem to have my share of bad luck with radios. I've already went thru a reset once with radio.

Received new Lincoln today. Had a on and off three-minute conversation with a friend and it died!
I unpacked the radio and waited thirty-minutes to match the temperature of my home prior to conducting my first radio check.
The receive was great but he told me that I was breaking up. When we stopped communicating, I started to double-check and adjust the external RF Power to five watts and the radio stopped transmitting with the mic button depressed.
Here we go!
Aren't all of these boards made by Quixang or is that incorrect?

Another curious question is, how do you verify if the alignment is in or out of specfications?
I bought a Dosy TFC 3001 meter to check frequency on radios and then discovered it didn't do SSB so I had to buy a Dosy TFC 3001-S model to be able to check side-band frequency while transmitting. And regardless of the bad-mouthing Dosy gets I find it agrees with my good radios. I set my Lincoln II+ menu so the clarifier adjust both the receive & transmit and can with the help of my Dosy TFC 3001-S I can adjust my transmit to be Right ON. The Lincoln out of the box with the clarifier set in the middle ( 12 O clock ) Everyone sounds like Donald Duck, you have to turn the clarifier knob to 3:30- 4:00 to understand Anybody. Not everyone is off frequency so it must be my radio. It might have happened in transit but at this point I don't give a DO DO because I don't want to listen to Presidents BS & Excuses or passing the buck. I had enough problems getting my Mckinley problems fixed. Once this one is fixed I'm finished buying. I want to just be a USER. LOL

Wow! I can understand your anger. You bought a new radio and later, for $200.00 +. you had to by a meter to verify the radio was misaligned.

Yeah the tough part is us Vietnam veterans were raised up to be fighting men so when you see BS it is sometimes hard keeping a Lid on it. LOL PS. I was lucky I had the Dosy TFC 3001-S before I got the Lincoln because I wanted to be able to check side-band radios and was glad I thought ahead !

OK, now I got it. You had the Dosy Meter prior to buying the radio and when the radio arrived. You checked and tested and verified sideband was "out of whack" and the CB / Radio Shop would not authorize you to return the radio to the shop.

The next time you decide to buy a new radio, inform the seller that you have test equipment to check alignment for AM / FM/ USB and LSB.

That's pretty much the way it went except after I got the radio set up I called Walcott Radio to ask a question to get started and detected a attitude from the salesman I bought it from. That finished my relationship with Walcott Radio and plus why send a radio back to them when I already ask them to check the frequency while it was on the bench for the 11 meter mod. And then they send it back and give FedEx or UPS a chance to bang it around some more. No thanks I'll go the extra mile and hand deliver it and bring it back from Bob's CB Shop myself. American business people need to polish their their attitudes. They wonder why the foreigners dislike us with our holier than thou attitudes. Just my Humble Opinion !

The frequency can be adjusted via the tech menus. I used a RTL SDR on my pc, and adjusted the menu until it was deadnutz. I made a previous post about it. It's different and takes some study before diving into it.

Thanks for the heads up but I wouldn't attempt that feat because I don't have the training or the right equipment for that process. To late in my life to buy any more equipment and my money tree is looking shabby. But I do thank you for the knowledge !

Did you pay the extra fee to check and align all modes? I have been buying my radios from one CB Radio Shop and I always verbally and email with specific instructions and requests, not to tune the radio but I pay the extra fee to check and align all modes if necessary. The reason why I request not to tune the radio is because I was / am concerned that "tune" is another word for "spike-up" the output watts.
I like the idea of having a meter to check alignment, but I do not have the knowledge, expertise and equipment to correct the misalignment.
Did Walcott Radio offer you the opportunity to return the radio?
