Does anyone know if a mic needs to be plugged in in order for the receive to work on a Poly Comm II?

I turned on my poly com II and didnt get any receive, does a mic have to be plugged in to get receive on this radio? It has the old amphenol mic plug. Thanks Dan.

P.S. The only fuses I see are supposed to be inserted on both legs of the power cord.

I pulled out my copy of Sam's CB-2 and looked at the schematic. The speaker is grounded through the mic. Speaker signal comes in on pin 4, through the PTT switch, and out pin 2 to ground. I guess that's how they avoided putting a relay in there.

So, yes, it looks like you do need your mic plugged in to hear any audio.

Thank you for your answer, it didn't come with a mic so will have to wire one, would it be possible to wire a amplified D-104 and how?

Again, I have to go off docs, so don't blame me if this summons a demon or something.

Pin 1, Audio, White wire
Pin 2, Ground, shield and blue wire
Pin 3, TX, Red wire
Pin 4, RX audio return, Black wire

Please be very careful with this. The TX signal is -135V when not grounded according to the Sam's book. Hook it to the wrong wire and boom goes your D-104. Short it to the metal body of the mic and ba-boom is what your heart might not do any more.

Thank you for the info... I think its best that I leave it to a pro... Dan

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
