My 25' push-up mast

Put my Antron on a 25' push-up mast on the back of my shed. First time ever using a push-up. I'm actually impressed with it. I didn't guy it. Only used two 3" wall brackets. It feels pretty solid. I ordered two more brackets just to be safe.

I was very leary when I ordered it, so I got the smallest one they make. I'm going to get a taller one eventually. I know It'll definitely need to be guyed. Next time I'll get help. This was a pain installing by myself.

I had my Antron 99 at 35' & thought it was doing a great job. I mounted a Hustler Resonator on a pipe in my back yard at just 3' & the Hustler outtalked & out heard the Antron with ease. I worked lots of stations on the Hustler that I could not even hear on the Antron. I never heard any stations on the Antron that I did not hear on the Hustler & the signals were always much better on the Hustler. The Antron is now mounted on the 3' pole & I put a Cushcraft R5 vertical on the mast & it hears & talks better than either of the other two antennas. I did not use a tuner with either & all were tuned to be resonant of the 10 meter band. I was very disappointed in the Antron but at least it was given to me as a gift from late friend as a Birthday Gift many years ago so no money invested in it. The Antron was on that Un guyed mast for over 10 years through thunderstorms & Hurricanes & it never came down when my Rohn 25 tower came down during a Hurricane in October 2023. The mast just swayed in the winds each time over those years.

That's interesting results.

I've been wanting to experiment with different Hustler resonators, especially when I get my truck. Maybe replace my ATAS and carry a few different whips.

I was shocked as was my neighbor when I showed him the difference. The Hustler is Tiny but it kicks my Antron's Butt on the air. I don't know what it would have done at 35' but I have no doubt it would have been even better. I needed more bands since my New tower is not up with the 6 band Yagi so I replaced them both with the R5 I got in a trade locally. The Antron is now used as a test antenna at 3'.

I have been using the R5 for 30 years. I have repaired it several times, but it is worth the trouble. I only wish is that it was the R7.

I have been chasing the 13 Colonies over the weekend & I needed K2G for a Clean Sweep. I guess they are to close for the vertical, so a friend told me they were on 40 meters. I don't have a 40 meter antenna but I heard them very strong on the R5 but they could not hear me. The tuner in my ICOM 7610 would not tune the R5 so I tried the tuner in the ICOM PW-1 & it quickly tuned it. Still no success. I turned the output power down on the radio so that the amp was only making about 350 watts & I called them again & they answered me on the 1st call completing the Full Sweep & I also have the TM13COL. Still have until midnight Tonight to get the GB13COL & WM3PEN so I could possibly get the Bonus stations as well. I'm not looking for the Certificate just doing it for me. I don't need any further wall decorations.
