not in touch with reality

facebook lost touch with reality too because I cannot access marketplace without giving them a copy of my ID or video biometrics.

Exactly. Which is why you won't find me on facebook or any other social media apps. I spend my time living life. And here on WWDX. :ROFLMAO:

This is the one of the two places I hang out, I haven't had a Facebook or Myspace profile since mid 2000's as I saw what it really was and what it would become. eBay used to be okay 15 years ago, but it went to crap and everything else followed.

Although Goodwill prices have gone up like everything else, I still buy from them on occasion. Anyway, I usually buy low cost single bidder radios that are needed to repair a similar radio. If both radios are restored in the end, that’s a bonus. If someone else trumps my starter bid, I usually let them win. Popular full featured 40 channel radios often start high and sometimes start a bidding war. It seems nobody is interested in the old 23 channel radios and the compacts that I like to restore nowadays. Besides, the better half is more tolerant of my radio clutter after I remind her that it helps my sanity, and the minuscule amount of money spent is going to a good cause.

They pay too much attention to ebay selling prices and not what the stuff sold for. Goodwill.com was goto for older camera great but they are to pricey nowadays.

Regardless, most of my Goodwill radio buys are under $12, shipping included. For me its a small price to pay for all the needed parts I receive such as finals, cans, crystals, PLL chips, mic cartridges, to name a few. I can’t afford to buy a NOS part or a part someone else pulled every time I need something. Caps are usually the only thing I buy new in bulk.
