SUPER STICK II AIRCRAFT BAND 118-132 MHz — Smiley Antenna https://share.google/mrqPPbMmJ1liFkUwE

Wow! Just Wow! I got this big honker telescoping BNC antenna that's tuned for 118-132 MHz. I put it on my Uniden BC125AT handheld scanner. It's long, heavy and wieldy, but it sure pulls in the signals. I have a few other homebrew and commercial base and ducky antennas.

This thing really pulls in the signals. I always thought they were corndog antennas. The name just doesn't jive with me. They make several other antennas like this, in addition to the normal stock rubber duck stuff. It's built decent, but you need to be somewhat gentle with. I think it was around $29. Great antenna.

A few years ago I was using an HT with a Smiley 1/2 wave telescoping attached, I worked a friend who was mobile, he was about seven miles away and I was in the house. Excellent performer!

I saw someone ran an analyzer on one. The results were impressive. There are so many counterfeit antennas out there. I just wish my little handheld scanner heavier. The antenna probably weighs x3 more than the radio.

Currently, I have it mounted on my Uniden BCT15X base unit. I'm in the center of 3 tiny airports. I just enjoy listening to them and I hear most planes talking to John Glen Airport in Columbus, Ohio.

I have a commercial airband antenna mounted outside my window. It's 15' high. My house has aluminum siding, plus a metal roof. It's giving the outside antenna a good challenge. I'm inside a Faraday Cage of sorts.
