MURS Moxon

My friend and I have been wanting to get into MURS for a while, pretty much got our GMRS stations dialed in. I'm really intrigued with all the telemetry and remote control possibilities with MURS and it being VHF in general. Anyway, I built a Moxon and he did a 3 element Yagi with a gamma match. We're 10 miles apart. Patched our little 2 watt type accepted HTs into the coax and made great contact on channels 4 and 5. Decided to try 1/2 watt, went to channel 1 and our signals were still good enough to crack the squelch on both radios with acceptable copy. Super happy.

What Crawdad said! It always makes me very happy to see other people taking the plunge and building their own antennas!
There's no greater satisfaction than making contact with an antenna you built yourself, whether that's ten miles on MURS or ten thousand miles on 20 meters! Well done.

MURS is fun, we use it a campgrounds. Most of the radio traffic is on FRS and nobody on MURS.
