I've had a chunk of copper on my desk for a while now and it finally became something useful. I whittled it into a new transistor (de)soldering iron. I am going to do another round of nickel plating tomorrow. The plating looks flaky but its from the wire wheel on the copper and grinding. Seems well adhered.

My bench iron, surprisingly for its size, has no trouble putting them back in, but that does look like a nice addition to the bench! I have one about that size that attaches to the tip of a propane torch though I rarely use it. If I ever get into working on amps more than just my tinkering around, I'll have to buy one.
