That's so funny. 25 years ago, I had the same radio, and it made the same noise AFTER I had the radio "peaked and tuned" by a local "expert". It was a little "whoop" sound that got transmitted when you keyed up. Most people liked it, so I left it that way.

So, is built-in talk back on any given CB Radio a perfect representation of what you sound like over the air, or is it pretty much deceptive? I have used talk back in two different ways. 1. Using headphones with the radio's talk back, and 2. Using headphones with a walkie-talkie that is close...

I suppose. I tell you what, I'm very close to taking the Ronco approach to radio. Set it and forget it, although I've never been that type of person. Lol

Hey, I've been wanting to do the double-male pl259 thing at the feed point of my mobile antenna, which has a through-the-roof mount. I went into a trusted CB shop, and he said to never do that, that I should have at least a foot of coax between the meter and the antenna. He wouldn't elaborate...

Hey, that's cool. Their low band version only shows 40mHz. I wonder if this design has ever been used on lower frequencies. According to that book you can do it. In 40 years I've never seen one for CB.
