We took the L2 down a few days ago and the quad wire broke off the eyelet that attaches it to the white drive wire. Taking it up and down is a real pain here so I disassembled and packed it all away and will probably sell it. I was able to keep every last screw, nut and part that it cane with...
Well less than a year and the connection for one of the wires came undone. Can't use antenna and too much snow to take it down to see what happened. It came off where the vertical feed goes to the wire.
My buddy and I are enjoying the antennas especially having some good rejection off of the back. They are working well. Thanks for all of the input and suggestions !
Thanks Marconi. Here are some pics of my buddies L2
I agree Six- shooter that an aluminum yagi would outlast a quad.
The L2 claims 36 DB side and rear rejection but we are not seeing that. The side rejection is not as good as the rear than the rear. I don't know if we can use the S meter on...
We ordered those first but the guy running the place was a space cadet and after several delays we cancelled and went with the L2. I agree that the cubex would be less complicated but I am enjoying the dual polarity of the L2. With the cubex you have to pick one or the other.
Another factor...
Marconi,
This picture might explain why the black wire ends up being longer at the brass stubs.
Also at every clamp holding the plastic insulator, you have to wrap the FB with a decent amount of electrical tape or the clamp won't grip the rods
Hi Marconi,
I had a situation where the black wires wer longer than the white wires where they reach the connection to the brass stubs. I didn't want to cut that wire of course so I skewed the plastic brackets to try and compensate so the final bends you have to make at the end of the brass...
I am enjoying have V and H again. I will attach some more pics. Again this thing is not easy to assemble. There are so many things that don't go together the way you hope.
One check I made was to measure the distance from one quad wire to it's opposite wire shown in a picture with the tape...
Hi Mudfoot. The more I use it the more good things I see. It is windy today and I can see the swr going up and down slightly. Yes the swr's worked out well. 1.2 to 1.3 vertical and about 1.4 horiz.
If you take yours out of storage to erect I can give some suggestions. You can see the droop on...
