I'm having trouble finding out what the capacitor values are on this old amp. I was told that it might be an Elkin, but in talking with Ray today, he made NO 807 powered amps. So back to square 1. This old guy has ceramic disc caps that are made with the CRL insignia, but no values labled on...

Well I guess I'll ask..... Can someone tell me if my amplifier should be grounded to the grounding bar behind my radios as the rest of my eqpt. is ? Sounds like a dumb question, but I really can find no other posts that address this question. Thanks in advance! Joe

Hi Mr Fatty, sounds exactly like what this rig is doing. I'm going to have the rig checked out and see what is really going on. It may just have a button that says AM. It really does nothing of the sort. I'll be posting, and thanks!

Thanks Shokwave! I think we may find out why these rigs do this. I belive that they may do it right out of the box, new. I don't know. I'm just trying to find as much positive info as I can about this rig and any others that may do it. We may find a common factor and a final remidy. I'll post...

Well, Now we might be getting somewhere! The very same rig (FT900AT). Please, if you can, take some time and see if it really is sending a backward swinging signal to another radio. Post what you find. And thanks a million! 73 Joe K0TRT jwhawg

Ah Man! QRT? hope not for long. I was qrt for about 5 years here until last year about this time. Re-setting up is not fun, but new chalenges with new tower location and instalations, grounds, 2700ft of radial wires under the ground mounted vetical, etc. Still way fun for me. Nice on the map...

Was wondering if you had transmitted on am with your 746? Just curious as to seeing if it also swings backward to receiving stations?

Yes it does swing backwards on a bird peak reader. And every other I have tried. I was also hoping that it was just a meter action, or reaction, but I send a negatively swinging signal to other receiving radios. Staions say I have great audio, but swing from say s-9 back to s-7 or whatever.
