Hi, Do you still have the Cobra 148 NWST? If so, I'm having problems with the alignment where after the VCO alignment the next section I believe is carrier adjustment, I cannot get any of those frequencies in AM lower side banner USB. Any idea what might be the problem? kevinrea2050@gmail.com

i use the ceramic also, but it cracks the carbon insert in the cobra 148 coils

You don't want metal because it's too hard, and you will knock off the top of the carbon insert or crack it..
