After looking through the schematic and comparing it to the board I see where that makes sense. One of the interesting things is that the VR and D70 are not shown on the schematic as well as this VR is not in the alignment guide. D70 is labeled on the board though. I figured it must be an...
Ok, so more of an update. This is interesting to see what manufactures do. The 142 board is a littte different that the 140. The 142 has holes in it for this VR that do not exist in the 140 (see the attachment). This VR is connectcted to TR33 (AMC) by a white wire (see attached). It takes...
I like where you were you are going with this. If it's "working" try an alignment to see if that points out a fault or concern. Did the PLL section align correctly? If you have a scope you could follow the receive chain and try to determine where the oscillation begins.
Dan,
Try this web site (below). I had a Teaberry Stalker XV with a bad motor. My search was for a Sankyo Intermatic WG6B9A. I am unsure if your radio has the same or similar motor but this guy is the answer if it does. A pic of the back plate from the Teaberry clock motor is attached for...
OOPS!!! nomadradio, I was going through the alignment docs and on this radio they already have a mod meter adjustment (VR12) as you noted. This VR is a different, unlabeled one (see attached). Is it possible that it is for modulation? I make these board layouts to help me better see where...
Hi Everyone,
So, I am aligning this 142GLT and there is a VR installed in place of where T1 would be. I have been researching this and it seems that on the 140GTL T1 is installed but on the 142GLT it may not be. The VR is not labeled and there are no alignment details for it.
Any ideas?
Good Evening Everyone,
So, I have a Cobra 142GTL on the bench for an alignment. The radio does TX and RX normally but could use some minor adjustments. I was looking through it and noticed that C118 had been upgraded from a 470uF to a huge (in size) 1000uF 50V cap that was blocking VR6. I...
The Superbase was a very good radio back in the day. It would easily be equal to the Cobra 2000 except it did not have a frequency counter and may be a little harder to add channels if you were into that. They are also highly collectable. The real issue with the Superbase was that they are...
This is a very good radio from the good old days. It has the same board as the Lafayette Telsat SSB 140. The 3-5825B version is the same as the GE Super Base minus many of its features. So, yep, it's a good radio and probably worth a few extra bucks.
