2 element Yagi with a Hairpin match

Thanks for the reply, very interesting. I am considering to convert it to a director rather than a reflector. Its kinda disappointing while pointed and talking to Australia (west) at 9 s units that folks in Wisconsin (east) can hear me at 7. The back end of this thing is nearly wide...

2 element Yagi with a Hairpin match

Welp, the hairpin didn't work, well it did with shortening the boom length but that did create different issues as mentioned above. I ended up just playing with the boom length at around .225 wavelength then the driven and reflector element lengths. Worked out pretty well with 1.09:1 swr and...

Taking bets on where Fine Tune pops up next

Well, You don't KNOW everything and what you think you KNOW is incorrect! We talk on the phone about radio repairs. I am a repair tech. I've repaired and modified more than I can count. Taking bets on where Fine Tune pops up next

You don't mean to be confrontational??? Well you certainly are. Everything in my post is true with 1 mistake. When I said he was on invoice 5008, I meant that is where he was when I ordered the radio. So, if you don't like hearing the truth about something that's got you all butt hurt...get over...

Taking bets on where Fine Tune pops up next

Actually it will be 2 years this coming January Chris. My invoice is number 5601. He said he is just now up to invoice 5008. so about 600 radios till I get mine. He calls me often and we have talked for hours. He's actually a pretty nice guy. Never talked down to me, insulted my inelegance or...

What do you call these weird warbling noises?

Don't know if it's true but I heard it was a solar flair that may or may not have been ejected. I think it might have been from the Space Weather Chick... Tamatha Skov.

What to do about a weathered fiberglass base antenna?

Polyester resin or gelcoat. You can use a green 3m scrubbie to sand it down. Yes, definatly wear gloves...fiberglass slivers suck. What ever you use make sure it has a UV blocker or buy the UV blocker additive. If you use gelcoat make sure you add surfacing agent or it will remain sticky...Made...

    Texas Star dx500v capacitor C45...91pF

Well, I pulled it out of the circuit. It's actually 100 pF not 91 but it tests at 225 pF. I did order from RF parts a few metal clad 91's and 100's but they're 350 volts...might not matter the voltage??

What do i really need to align a CB radio?

Yeah, nah...the tinySA's aren't that good...at least the one I had for a short time wasn't. Bought it for a stand in while my HP8920A was out for calibration. No comparison...

    2 Element Yagi

Welp, I finished the beam today...sorta. 2 element driven with a reflector and a 1:1, double toroid 240-43 common mode choke with 1" to 7/8" element taper. reflector is bonded to the boom. It worked out pretty good with a 1.05 vswr, +3 reactance and 52 ohms. I'm gonna work on it a bit...
