SSB/ANL is sideband modulation not power.

The kl503 doesn’t even use the mrf454 case style type transistors. They use case style transistors the same as the finals in the Anytone AT6666 radio uses.

I bypassed the driver so only eight finals are being used. I took out the 3.3 pf Capacitor at the input so239 & put in a 15 pf. I have it in line with my icom. 30 pep on SSB now it does 325 watts peak. I listened to it & it sounds just like the radio does with amp off. Only thing seen is an...

If this bypass is done the SWR will be high. Mine was flat now it’s a 3 so I have to use a z100 auto tuner.

It has a -7db attenuator inside to make it handle more dead key. No more than 5 watt carrier & 35 swing. I wouldn’t swing no more than 25 because it doesn’t produce anymore power after 25 pep.

I put a 15 pf in mine, removed the 3.3. It seems ok now. The KL503HD will never see 600 pep. I removed the -7db attenuator & it produces more power. Ssb radio peaking 8 watts pep the amp makes 320 watts. Anymore power it doesn’t produce anymore so I leave it at 8 pep out of my ic718.
