I agree with the small loop idea. Something else you could try is hidden coax running to a screw in a rain water drain pipe and a tuner. Load up the drain pipe and hope it has a decent connection to the roof.
The drain pipe and any other 1st floor antenna will probably be pretty noisy on RX...

this might work for you, a par 11m end fed antenna used with #26 magnet wire (very hard to see).
use a 20 foot telescopic crappie pole for vertical use or fishing line and run it from the roof to the ground for a sloper

Noticed that your TP2/L14 is 3 VDC compared to the factory service manual of 2.5 VDC. I'll try changing that also.
