Thanks for the suggestions, all. I use ziplocks for the specialty and large resistors (NI, ww, >1W, etc) and keep'em in a small box. I'm going to explore the 3-ring binder approach. I've seen Jewelry stored like that.

I placed an 8pF silver mica in para with air variable and it appears to shift the useable band-spread enough to help.
