Every serious radio user, CB or Amateur, should have a frequency counter. I have a Dost TFC-3001, with Watts, SWR, modulation, and frequency counter. Usually, the person telling me I am off frequency is the one off frequency.

Those capacitors are over40 years old, if the radio has the mike jack on the left side of the case. Capacitors tend to dry out, the oil can dissipate. If it is one of the older ones, recapping the radio would only improve it. That's just my take on the problem you describe, it sounds like a bad...
