now you had me sctratching my head here. I didn;t know if you were saying that we shouldnt worry about blowing up antennas and equipment too or if he shouldnt plan for when he upgrades his license and can run 1500w
I asked Gary and he said that can work with 2 antennas, doesn't think it would with 3 and he said they should be a half wave apart not a qusrter
I edited because I had to call adn ask him again
He says he loves it because its hotter gain adn more power haneling then the super scaner and he needs to cut down his local inteference from a cber of all things only half mile from him so the two reflecting a99 antenas work real great he said
My cousin is into 10 meters, he used to do CB but now he's a tech in ham radio.
He just put up three 40' towers a quarter wava apart and put an astron99 on each tower. he said he cut the coax for each a99 excactly four waves long for 28.4 where he talks.
I hope I get this right, he has all 3...
Well that just seems stramge to me that a company would make an antenna physicaly shorter then what it could be because I would want the biggest tallest and highest I could make work tops over the rest
Reason I grabed that maco wasnt just the price but my cousin had one and he knows alot more...
Getting cold outside in the mornings
I just went and measured an old maco a guy gave me for $2 at a yard sale because the ring got broke and 1 bottom arm got bent and its not even 20 feet long from the ring to the tip.
Now you got me a little perplexed because it sounded like you said a 64 was...
Is it different from a 5/8 or just a common term for 5/8? I always thought a 5/8 was a very good antenna and yes, even magic at times, but that's really the atmosphere
About 25yrs ago I helped my cousin build a 5/8 but lost the plans until I found them last weekend. Maybe I'll give it a go.
Keith you wrote .64, don't you mean .625 for 5/8? Not trying to be anal, just wondering about the number. Wouldn't .625 round up to .63 not .64?
