    Astatic Minuteman II D-104

I have a couple of minuteman 2 mics and love them, however the 7.5v battery holders tend to break due to that age of the cheap plastic used. I tried gluing the broken end back on and it would hold for a short while and then break. My solution was to remove the broken negative end and ream the...

    Mobile antenna problem

I found the problem. I have a plastic bed liner that was acting as a giant capacitor effecting the loading coil. I trimmed a different stinger about 9 inches as now have a flat match.

Yes I have tried that. I think there is something else going on

    Mobile antenna problem

Thanks! I was thinking it was a ground problem but I had continuity between the bed and the mount. I also ran a ground strap from the mount to the frame. But maybe the bed is not grounded good. Will try it!

    Mobile antenna problem

i installed a Monkey Made Mm9 on my Dodge Ram pickup. I mounted it in the center of the bed behind the rear window with the coil above the roofline. On my MFJ 259 it came in resonant at 25.200. Check the grounding and had good continuity. Thought maybe it was having interaction with the cab...

WILSON CO-PHASED 4 ft WHIP PROBLEM

Yes I thought that but works great on my base antennas.

WILSON CO-PHASED 4 ft WHIP PROBLEM

Yes very perplexing, the antennas had a flat match throughout the entire 11 meter before the one antenna went bad. Above 3:1 both with and without co phased at 27.200. Yes they are the Wilson 4 ft with tunable tip. My only thought is to add a spring to the antennas even though they were fine...

WILSON CO-PHASED 4 ft WHIP PROBLEM

No the separate antennas do not test good on separate piece of 50 ohm coax. They resonate out of the 11 meter band. I'm using a MFJ 259 analyzer

WILSON CO-PHASED 4 ft WHIP PROBLEM

I disconnected the harness and tested them individually with a separate piece of 50 ohm coax.

WILSON CO-PHASED 4 ft WHIP PROBLEM

I am beyond perplexed with trying to solve my antenna problem. I had co phased Wilson 4 ft whips on my pickup and they worked perfect for 4 yrs till one antenna got loose and stripped out the bottom fitting. I replaced the bad antenna and could not get it to resonate in the 11 meter band. So...

    Johnson Messenger 223 crystal question

I guess what I'm asking is how can I tell which side is the circuit and which side is the ground. Maybe it will be self evident when I get into it?

    Johnson Messenger 223 crystal question

I was confused because the VFO installation instructions say to put the center conductor to the hot side of the crystal socket and the shield into the ground side unless it has a floating ground in the crystal oscillator circuit. Then they say to connect the shield to the chassis

    Johnson Messenger 223 crystal question

Does anyone know which leg on the crystals is the hot side and which side is the ground on a Johnson Messenger 223. Also does the crystal osillator circuit use a floating ground? I am trying to install a Pal VFO. Thanks
