I have a j-pole that I recently built and due to weather, will not be able to get it put up on my tower till things get nicer. I was wondering if it would be ok to use it for my HT when I am in my shack at home and just have the j-pole standing in the corner of the room??? I know it won't be as effective as being on the tower but I think it should be better than the HT antenna. Any ideas on this? Thanks

It will work fine. If you run your HT off of batteries, be prepared to change them more often then when using the rubber duck.

What he said above.
Stand it in the corner. An SMA or BNC connector just ain't gonna support that 'J'-pole on an HT...
