maco 5/8 to maco .64

its not a maco but my homebrew uses the same basic tuning method . i initally had the vertical 23 feet long but now its at 22 1/2 feet . i used pretty large tubing for my verticle , 1 3/8 , 1 1/4 , 1 1/8 and 1 inch at the top with a 1 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick aluminium strip for the tuning ring .hey booty that almost looks like a sigma 5/8 looks good to me.

hey booty that almost looks like a sigma 5/8 which was a great performing antenna.

the sigma doesnt have a taping point on the ring to use for tuning purposes like the maco and my home brew does . thanks for the compliment though . im still messing with it ;)

Nice thing about this design is that you can adjust your bandwidth adjustment at the last section of the vertical and the swr at the tapping point so this design will take you from 10 to 12 meters.

the sigma2 is indeed fed at the bottom of the hoop, the aluminum plugs inside the fiberglass form a 47pf shunt capacitor across the hoop;)

Exactly, how do you adjust the antenna to change it's "bandwidth"?

Adjusting an antenna's length does affect it's resonance frequency, but it has nothing to do with 'bandwidth'. Big difference.

I think what Mack was getting at was by adjusting the resonant frequency you can move the useable bandwidth up or down to whichever part between 10 and 12m you prefer, I don't think he meant you can vary the bandwidth.

Sometimes it pays to read the post fully and to try and understand not everyone words things the same way. Instead of trolling for an argument.
