im looking for an easy to assemble - user freindly base antenna
cost isnt an option
preferably a ground plain design with at least 8-15 db gain all ideas considered

to get real gain of 8-14 db I think you would need a 4 element beam? If my understanding is right 1/4 waves are all about the same and same for 1/2 and 5/8 wave vertcals they are all about the same in gain.
look or google Dx Antenna Systems tons of info.....too much at times....but worth a read or two.

There is no way a ground plane antenna will give you 8-15dB.

If you want that kind of gain (I assume dBi) then you need to look at beams. A simple one to build is a Moxon rectangle. One for 11m will end up around 11ft x 5ft. There are plenty of Moxon antenna calculators on the internet. You should be able to build one quite cheaply and in a couple of hours. A TV rotator would be more than up to the job.

Uh, where did he go to??????? What did we do scare him away???????

Yeah right, a 4 element beam has about 9 BD gain in the real world...
