Seriously?

Actually no, we don't . At least I don't. I've wondered for decades how in the hell these boys afford this stuff because from listening to them I'm not detecting a high degree of intellect that would likely preclude a high-paying occupation, or any occupation for that matter.

I've called them welfare stations for years but hell- welfare doesn't pay THAT much!

So at the risk of looking the fool please tell us: Just how do these boys afford this stuff? Inquiring minds want to know.

If you can't figure it, here are my observations.
1) Illegal activities.....draw your own conclusions.
2) Lawsuits
3) Trust funders
4) Political lobbyists

Agreed.
The $6500 for the amp is a small part of the price. An array of custom 300+ amp alternators, large battery banks, antennas, and a special vehicle to put all this in.
I estimate the total cost to be in the $30,000-$40,000 range....just to play radio and nothing else. You must also have RF Parts on speed dial.
And I thought spending a bunch of cash on a 2x8 base amp was costly.

Amen.
There is a member here on this forum, (un-named) that had a amp built for him.
A 1x4x16.
All in one case.
When he got the thing he had not a clue what he would need to run it.
Next thing you know he is posting all over the forum looking for a ""cheap"" 400 amp motor maul.
Still not understanding that he needed a whole bank of batteries to run the motor maul.
Still not understanding he has to have a way to charge the batteries, because the stock 60 amp alt in his little 4 cylinder is not going to live long ( IF it can develop enough hp to keep it spinning)( IF it will turn without shredding the drive belt) trying to keep the batteries up.
And I would not recommend Mini 8 for coax.
Or a Wilson 5000 mag mount
Oh, and do not even try to turn up the volts on a box with a built in driver, or two.....Or....or....or.....

Oh, and as for having RF parts on Speed dial :

Ya, did I say Amen?

I have witnessed someone blowing that many transistors in a 32 pill keydown just to win $100 and a trophy.

These units are for industrial, scientific, medical, or export use only.
It is a violation of US FCC regulations to operate these units on the Citizens Band or Amateur Radio Service

So I guess these are "intended" for scientists or doctors only.....but you can buy them off of a CB amp website...lol!

But hey, maybe this would get my number called on "tha bowl" :w00t:
