Base Jay's I-10K Eznec Model at 59' feet to the tip.

That's how they use them Eddie, none of the antennas were isolated from the mast for the test,
that setup seemed to hurt the no radial imax more than the others.

I will have to look at that idea Bob.

It sounds like you have folks over there too that have their minds made up...and have a veil over their face for new and better ideas.

little thought goes into most folks antenna installs Eddie, bolted directly to a 20ft or more scaffold pole with no choke is the norm,

a few people ( not me ) run wires to ground rods,
a few people do things like wrapping electrical tape or tyre inner tube around the mast to insulate the antenna,

don't forget the fork handle crew, some of my buddies use them to good effect.

Funny!

Bob and Homer, I feel bad about bring in some colorful conversation into our discussions, and after I promised both Steve and Henry. I hope they both understand I just slipped a little on my promise.

Sorry guys, I'm not as technically minded...my memories are about all I have anymore. I've always been a story teller of sorts.

..I use 30" of 1.25" solid fiberglass rod extending up out of the top of the mast upon which the I10k & Penetrator were mounted with a 5 turn CMC choke made from the coax, on a 4.25" circular former of gray pvc.
..The Penetrator "Wiped the floor" with the I10k until I fixed the incorrect radiator design (out of the box) then they were neck & neck to the valley below, some 40 miles from me.
..They make the same mistake Shockwave and the newer Penetrator do, it must be modded before you'll get the maximum 5/8 wave performance efficiency.
..Hats off to Avanti, designers of the Sigma II 5/8, the first genuinely pure and correctly designed 5/8 wave 11m base antenna.
---EDIT---
..One thing I left out, when I bought the Penetrator 2nd hand all but one top hat rod were broken off and when I tried to straighten the last one to a straight-up position it snapped off, so I ended up just adding about 8.5" of tubing to the top until it dialed in on the MFJ259B.
