Radio drops a couple watts with amp inline..

So my Ranger 296 swings say 6-8 with voice modulation on my meter normally (whistle to 14w). But when I put my RM203 inline with it and power line powered (as required to work) my audio only gives me like 2-3w with same audio modulation.. I also get 2-4w or so with amp on (SSB mode)

Meter is between radio and amp.

SWR is flat as checked without amp inline and direct to A99. (Correction/edit 1:1-1 near 40 and 1:1-1.2 on channel 1)

Could there be a limiter in the amp dragging it back to lower??

I can whistle the watts to about 10w on SSB mode.. just seems tighter to get it there..

Got good audio reports with skip and barefoot without amp inline and the 6-8w audio.. just figured a kicker for the pileups..

The input on the amp needs tuning. Have you checked the SWR between the radio and amp?

Between radio and amp is where the meter is located. It's showing flat.

My A99 without amp inline is showing 1:1-1:2 max.. closer to 1:1-1

I guess, that is with the amp off.

just turn the amp on,... if the SWR changes much ,... then see post #2.

.... or you can use one of special length jumpers between the radio and the amp

I moved the meter to after the amp.

With a 1w dk I get a 25w dk, on SSB with say 12w whistle I get 120w and SWR not above 1.2:1

With my TS350 in play I get a 50w dk using a 1w dk, and in SSB and 12w whistle I get 220-240w from that and SWR of a little less than 1:3:1..

So I guess all my worrying was for naught..
