I have an E.F.Johnson Viking 430, 40 ch. base, and a Sadelta Echo Pro base mic that I want to marry up, but the 430 has a strange looking mic plug! Any help would be appreciated!! I also want to wire up my TUP-9 D104 to the same radio.
Thanks,

Does that have the 5-pin locking connector ?

If so give this a try-

Sonwatcher,
It ALMOST looks like that plug, except it is plastic, and has a flat metal pin where the small indentation is. I have a couple of those metal Johnson plugs, but when I try to use them, nothing works. The flat pin has the shield soldered to it.
Thanks,
Don

Help

I use a VIKING 430 mine also has the plastic mike plug [which is all opoxied together because it cracked] mine is wired to a Turner +2 transisterized mic one of the old desk mics. I also use a messenger 223 on that radio I use a newer Turner side kick mic with the plug pictured in the above post if I plug the newer Turner mic into the Viking it will not work, different wireing I guese or plugs are not exactly the same you might want to get the right plug for that Viking. Maybe Kens Electronics can help.

Ok, here is the pinout for the radio itself-

Pin 1 MIC.
Pin 2 PTT/COMMON GROUND.
Pin 3 RECEIVE.
Pin 4 N/C.
Pin 5 PTT.
Pin 6 MIC SHIELD.

The Sadelta mic color code

white- audio
brown- transmit
green - receive
shield- braid

Astatic

Shield = Ground
Blue = Common
White = Mic or Audio
Red = TX
Black = RX
Yellow = Audio Switch

I wish I could help you with the wiring ,like I said I dont think the plugs are compatable try to get a new plug ! Some mics need the wiring switched inside of the mic itself . I will tell you though that the 430 is a really good radio, when you get it going you are going to love it, even though it is old I would buy another if I could find one like the one I have!!
