Hi all,

I’m excited to share that we’ve just launched vhf.dxlook.com — a new real-time map dedicated to VHF propagation.

The site uses live APRS-IS data to show stations, paths, hops, and coverage contours. Stations appear dynamically, and reception areas are grouped into distance lobes (50 km, 150 km, 250 km, 500 km, 750 km). It’s a great way to see when and where VHF is opening up.

Some highlights:
  • Real-time APRS reception data from thousands of stations worldwide
  • Dynamic lobes/contours to visualize actual reception ranges
  • Filters to explore coverage by station, time, or hop
  • Fast, lightweight interface that works well on both desktop and mobile
This new VHF view should be especially useful if you’re into FM repeaters, APRS, contesting, or portable ops, since it makes it easy to spot those times when propagation extends beyond the normal line of sight.

And now, with both sites running, DXLook gives you a full picture of the bands:
  • vhf.dxlook.com → local and regional VHF propagation
  • dxlook.com → global HF propagation (WSPR, PSK Reporter, DX Cluster, RBN, POTA)
Between the two, you can see what’s happening on the air right now — from short-range hops to worldwide contacts.
