For decades radios with features not legal for 27 MHz CBs have entered the country as "10 meter" transceivers. Typically the Galaxy, RCI, Connex and such brands will be intentionally crippled on the inside before shipment, and get "un-crippled" to cover 40 CB channels once the radio is safely across the border. Not legal, but popular year after year.

This guy does quite the opposite. Takes a FCC-legal CB AM/FM transceiver and expands it from 40 channels to 10 and 12 meters.

Go figure.

Back in the late 70's...early 80's...Ham Radio Magazine and 73 mag has many articles on converting CB's to 10m...most of those articles I think can be found on archive pages....

I had either a Cobra 138 (?) mobile ...or that old SBE Sidebander II (?)....plus a 4 lung 8950  mobile amp...."Can you hear me NOW!!!"...had a BLAST on 28.400 and 28.475 were my fav's running mobile.

I still have that AMP SUPPLY 10M (Tokyo High Power built) mobile transceiver...neat little 20 w PEP SSB/CW rig! 28.00 -29.00 MHz

One of the first radios I ran on 10 meters was a 148 bodged up to 28 MHz.
Lou Franklin had plenty of info about ten meter conversion back then.

I have a Grant XL I wouldn't mind doing this with. Can you tell me what all is involved? I have two rigs, one with and one without a Digiscan.
