I went to his website last night and sent an email asking if he is indeed still in business selling the books. If I get a response in the affirmative I think I am going to jump on it as quick as I can. I'd really like to have the set of three.
Lets us know if you get a reply, I did the same thing your doing, sent email got a reply next day, placed an order its been over a month and no book, 2 emails no reply not sure whats going on.I went to his website last night and sent an email asking if he is indeed still in business selling the books. There used to be a link online were you can download his book's for free pdf format but l've lost the link, maybe someone has it here
If anyone has it that cares to comment......
I'm thinking of getting this one. I know there are some pretty old threads that talk about it but some forums don't like "resurrection of dead posts" so much..... so I wanted to ask......
Is the book geared towards teaching you how various circuits work? How to troubleshoot? Just a collection of "tips and tweaks"? Would you say that it is "as in depth as the reader cares to go"?
I've been watching some repair threads the wind up heading in the direction of "you need to learn more about the radio basics".....and I do. Covered it in school from an educational perspective......but I got out in 1977 and headed straight in to the digital world for 11 years, then off into software development.
I really want to go back and re-learn communications basics as they apply to CB transceivers. I have found a few documents on the web that describe superhet receivers which covers a good deal.... but this book with a focus on CB really intrigues me........
In advance, I appreciate any comments or suggestions........
You could at least wait until the author dies to screw with his retirement plan. If you ever author a book, we will be sure to post it here for free. Lou has made a huge impact on this hobby, he doesn't deserve that.
At least it isn't the newest updated version. When I first started this journey I searched torrent sites galore looking for a copy, because it was out of print at the time and the only place I could find it was eprey for like $400. I stayed in contact with Lou and as soon as he had it reprinted I ordered. I really like the spiral bound edition. You could at least wait until the author dies to screw with his retirement plan. Amen to that!!!! Having to wage war with magnifying hoods to see is bad enough!!!!!!!!!!!Lou is good with breaking down things in a simple way that's easy to comprehend.
His Uniden export service manual was awesome good stuff when you could not jump on the web and find things in 30 seconds ,same with later Galaxy manual.
Channel guard, speech processor's, amp instructions with parts list and sources for the parts, lots of goodness.
Hope he's ok , none of us are getting any younger
