Cobra 2000gtl Unmod and Repair

What is it the young folks say? "Pics or it didn't happen".

This crystal's lead wires did rot away because of the brown glue holding this crystal to the pc board.

New crystal made this Cobra 25GTL a lot happier.

Made sure to scrape away all signs of this stuff.

The glue is fine until it absorbs moisture... A person will only go on about their qualifications when their work and contributions are not enough to convince.

Nomad, why on earth did they EVER use that particular kind of glue? Did they not know that it would corrode and even conduct as it aged? Just curious....
