not if you talk fm, also many average operators have trouble running the hf rigs on am (at least in my area) and sounding understandable. I like my ft100d but my 2517 gets more use for local talking.
2 irfz24n (rt1) have lasted me a year in the mobile with the 69vhp, keying 20 swinging 40 avg and 100 pep. I get long winded talking to locals around here too.
Look out for mismatched finals on these radios, both of the 69vhp mobiles I have .... came from the factory with mismatched finals that would cause oscillation on ssb
Same as 98vhp or 959, leave limiter in place and the "red wire" so to speak is already there adjust amc and alc to look good on scope and you are done.
I have found schematics for the klv-1000 and klv-1000 p and the high drive conversion seems fairly simple but I am not sure what to do at the l10 and l11 coils, I guess I will need to wind a coil like the one in the 1000p
Good to know about the driver tube issue, any notes on the conversion would be appreciated. I may get by without having to buy more tubes but a spare set for $75 shipped ain't bad at least until I can afford one of those Mountain top 3x 3-500z boxes.
I need to know about this phenomenon.
I have just came across a klv 1000 that has popped a tube twice so far. 2 owners ago a guy was tuning it up on a new antenna and accidentally keyed full radio power in and no more tube. The last owner was talking on it I am not sure mode or conditions and...
A lot of my customers would have an easier time running this radio over a quad 6 style interface.
I guess for one who wants to buy a radio online for the lowest price the anytones are the way to go.
If you have a good local shop that will take care of you after the sale the ranger would be a...
Also I am using the wire between the crystal filter and crystal for a ground for my probe as I normally do on alignments, it worked for the 10.240 crystal check.
This is where I am stuck, the third step of the alignment as per the Sams Photofact and a few other sources:
Input of frequency counter through a
47pF capacitor to TP20 (IC1 Pin 7).
Ch. 19, AM
Check for 10.240MHz.
Input of oscilloscope to TP21 (L21 Secondary).
Ch. 19, AM
L21
Adjust for...
I am having trouble with an alignment on an old president Grant I picked up.
The trouble is I am not able to get a frequency reading on tp21, the bare lead of r101. What am I doing wrong?
The radio works properly I just want to get the alignment spot on
