Closely related to the dx 2517 that I run at home. I really like them, good radios. To bad the cost of them has went up so much, all of those through hole components are getting more expensive.
I wish i could get more clarifier range out of one but other than that they are a favorite of mine.
These units are quite durable, I have installed about 4 cases of them on drivers radios and have only had 1 unit come back with a blown fet. I finally put one on a road king 5640 for myself last week and I am very pleased with how that setup drives my 4x hg2879c amp.

I like black radios too, I find the interface difficult to use on the 6666, especially mobile. I guess it wouldn't matter if I just rode 19 but I like to shoot a little dx around the 27.555 and change modes bands and frequencies to track down locals.

Keep up the good work nomad. The palomar 300a is my favorite cb amp, clean audio compact size and big power.
Even if you had to put new tubes ($40 to $60 each if you shop around) and an upgrade board in one the watts per dollar would justify it in my opinion.
I like the performance and specs but the face is just to "Hammy" for me. I will just wait for them to roll all these features into the next Dx-10 Alnico.
I would like to hear more, I consider the z24 one of the toughest fets out there. When I get a convex in the shop that has ben superhacked with blown finals the irf z24n is what goes in. In my testing they are almost indestructible at low power level.

No 11 meter was dead over here a couple of weeks ago so I flipped the Icom down to 40 meters where they were having a sewing circle about how giving 11 meter to cb was the worst thing fcc ever did.
