Got a surprise today after reinstalling my Q6 Pro back in my cobalt and my old Sirio Performer 5000 antenna that got destroyed when it hit a limb. I bought a new base for it from Trucks CB and had him put a better & longer coax on it for my purpose. I figured I would pre-test the SWR before I...
Because of my lack of ability to do radio repair ( No Training ) and lack of local repair shops in a reasonable distance I have to say I lean towards New radios. But I've had my share of troubled New radios also. And time will tell all tales !
Yes I would like to try it but I found the thread in here that stated that it won't change the channels on the Lincoln II+ and that is important on the Lincoln because they don't have a channel change knob on the dash panel, only 2 small up & down buttons. That's what makes the Mic control...
And watch you don't get caught up in the ( Every Thing I Have Is The Best ) frame of mind. Some of the new stuff has problems also. It's not a perfect world !
Heard DX busting thru on both of my Q6 Pros in both of my mobiles especially my late afternoon run with the Cobalt, but still couldn't break on thru to the other side. I credit some to being too busy especially 38 lsb.
Yeah I was out in my Cobalt about that time and heard some beautifully clear stuff coming out of that Q6 Pro on 37 & 38 LSB but I couldn't break on thru to the other side.
Yeah your probably right and I can't remember when I changed that battery. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago, but then again time flies when your having Fun ! Maybe it's time to get my load tester out and check it before winter gets here.
I have my Q6 Pro wired direct to the battery using 14 gauge wire in my Chevy Cobalt and unless the engine is running I get a Low Power message on the radio when I try to transmit. So looks like the alternator has to give it that little extra Zap when transmitting.
Yeah I heard it can, but it is easier in the second version because I think it is a menu choice. I wonder how many versions there are now ? I won't open mine up and bother because it has taken it's place as a test radio to talk to.
The 980 is probably better used as a base. It was the first SSB radio I started to make SSB contacts with because the two Uniden Washingtons I bought online were duds. The trouble with mine is it is the first version with that awful beep when you change channels and I hate the menu and the...
Got a chance to set in my Cobalt just before 3 PM and listen to 36 - 40 LSB and heard some clear as a bell DX coming out of my Q6 Pro but unfortunately I couldn't reach out and touch someone. But I was pleased with what was coming out of that radio. Makes a man get excited about what is to come !
I bought a lot of antennas from Walmart.com because I have one of their re loadable gift cards and don't have to give credit card # over the internet. Never had it hacked and if they did they wouldn't get much.
Looks like those conditions we are all waiting for aren't here yet and still spotty. I heard very little yesterday so I was just being a bum and should have gone fishing.
