Cobra 29 LTD Classic & Chrome FM Radios are Here
Well, that’s a little anticlimactic. It’s the same radio, feature wise, except FM. Push the channel selector for FM.
Hope it’s ok, I’m quoting NZ8N from another post about the 29LX

The PLL in this latest generation...
They’re here :)
Like most manufactures, they don’t really care about the hobby. They just want to sell more stuff. I can’t fault them for that. I will say, however, I sell a lot of radios and only about 1 out of every 2500 radios have a noticeable factory defect. I’m not talking about the...
Old box is all black. All of the “newer” 29’s (Classic, Chrome, LX) over the last 1-2 years have some red accents on the top, side; and also show features in red below. (Note: The SMD version from Sept 2021 has no PA and shows as much on the box).
I think I have about 50 of these 29LX radios...
I started a thread back in Sept of 2021 about the Cobra 29LX being surface mount technology. Like other manufactures, Cobra has been hit and miss with inventory and I recently was able to grab a couple dozen of the 29LX. Not knowing what to expect, I opened one up and what I found was a...
Yes. While the benefit is not great, I know many people that run even smaller amps - like the KL203 - with the quad 6. The one benefit is that they can run the radio on a very low power setting so the radio doesn’t get hot. Some amps won’t sound very good so you’ll have to find out about that...
Yeah…no power switch. They’re made to plug into a switched circuit in an RV - originally. Power strip is the way to go. With their shipping box, I’m surprised they don’t get more damaged items.
When the fan turns on, which isn’t often, you’ll hear it. They’re designed to go into tight areas...
Make sure you set it to “Fixed output”; otherwise, it’ll drop voltage after a while thinking your battery is charged. Also, get a tuning screwdriver to “gently” tune the pot to adjust your voltage.
They’ve always stood behind their equipment for me. That is to say, if the equipment failed, they would immediately replace it. If the customer was not happy with the performance of the unit when used with an amplifier - voltage drop or what have you - that’s generally the reseller’s...
I’ve sold a few thousand of these units. They work well; however, I can’t use it on my Icom 7300. On keyup, the radio shuts down and restarts. I’ve used multiple units with the same result. I switched to an Astron 70. For expensive ham equipment, I suggest going that route. For amps and such...
