Something to add, ive noticed when my og 6666 is in the house on a power supply the channel skipping with the encoder is not bad at all. Something apparently when in warmer temps makes it a skipper. 73
good times. :).otherwise she works well on ssb which is key for me. Having the am right would be nice. Pretty sure i need to lift the board(s) out to see what they comandeered under with the wiring to the filter. A botched job regardless. Will do my best :)
I have a 430 that am mode seems to be pooched. Upon top cover removal i find a taped up mess and what appears to be an incorrect am filter sitting in the spot where the am filter would be soldered in. Looks like this thing was spliced in to a small coax type wire. Thinking of trying to remove it...
Does anyone know when the pro will be sold with the new firmware already loaded ? Its looking like a few months here before i will be ordering mine so just curious. Thx!
Hello, i am curious if anyone has had any issues with these now considered old kenwood power supplies. I had read that these models dont have over voltage protection / crowbar circuits and have in some cases cooked the radios connected if / when they fail. Also wondering if doing some...
also, i think its a real shame that a reset on the radio via the menu does not retore the previously set "service menu" settings. I guess the service menu is for engineers :)
Id probably shelf elf it for now. Over the next while the default service menu settings will get posted and you will be able to at least put it back somewhat close to what the factory had. From what i have read on this, guys that access this internal menu record all the original factory set...
Thanks Pez. That is the info / differences between the two models that really isnt out there. Ive looked :) i am just not a fan of the 6666 pro or 6666 layout so looking at whats available better then my n2 which i really like. The updates on the newer short case model to me are really great...
Hi JJ, i noticed the same thing a few days ago. I was sure i had a loose antenna connection and even watched my swr meter closely while i keyed up on am to see if there was any fluctuation which there was not. I thought maybe i was seeing some cross channel from a station and nothing either...
Yes seems so. I am not a big fan of the 6666/6666 pro size or control layout. So much prefer the 5555n/n2 size and layout and no doubt others probably feel the same :) happy Friday!
Thanks magnuman. I have been wondering if changing my 5555n2 to a short version (or QT60 pro) is worth it. The dimmer would be nice that the n2 doesnt have but not seeing much else as a substantial upgrade from my current n2. I personally prefer the larger form factor of the 5555n2 / Qt60 over...
