Big fan of direct fed !
Agreed, the loss is low in most matching devices, but still....
there is...so if always wondered why anyone would see the "need" for it ?
Besides that i really dont think it is needed, i honestly think more then 75percent of all failure in CB yagi's lies within the...
A simple "long wire" probarbly (in most cases / normal effort) will not outperform a "normal" CB antenna. There are those who can; If you insist on using "wires" google: rhombic antenna, bobtail curtain antenna, (curtain antennas in general) bruce array etc. those provide gain. I think w8ji has...
A tigther pattern which allows you to illuminate the unwanted is always welcomed. for RXing.
That....together with the additional gain could be an improvement. But..... only if you are really into "DX"... and hearing them. Primairy focus on height....you probarly cant change the terrain on...
Well... I wasn't suggesting you were reading things wrong. I was suggesting result with RFI and coax are not "always clear".... Just like you experienced. Sorry if I gave you that idea....We agree (i think hihi)
You can measure the amount of "choke" using for example a minivna. Not many do that...
Very plausible marconi....Heck...just moving coax 1 meter left or right can have a hugh impact.
Thats what i said... the issues with "chokes"....
Read the last line from my previous post again
Im not saying anytihing else wont work....im saying what is best...
If of use...i remember some measurements....its not that hard to measure the amount of choke. And i was astonished (?) by the measurements provided. I always said to the "clients" tape it to the boom ...you will be fine.. only to find out..that is not the case (im a bit "wants...
Hi DB !
Thanks for your reply.
Well...I like to "reconstruct" a real situation...and i see most vertical antennas are attached to the mast instead of "on" it.
Some antennas "depend" on it ....for that "C".
It would indeed be better to set it "on top"...preferably with some radials chokes etc...
Oke...what about a simple EFHW antenna roughly a half wave above ground...
Blue is without a mast....black is with a mast and its isolated from the antenna. I would say that is a difference .....
Or the t2tl this time black is without a mast...again...its isolated... the mast is 10cm away from...
@ Marconi,
I really had a large reply here... ( i typed for 30 minutes and it was a bit "hard" every now and then..but honest...)
Reading back...
Im not sure if it contributes, or would provide the outcome i hoped for...
Instead...please allow me to say..
Sure marconi...
Ill Try.... Im...
For me....it is not of interest if you did or did not use the same words....neither the option of being accused of something...
It only fills up loads of "comment space".
What is of interest...
Is to show that what you are saying is very valid, and you can back it up with examples. And discuss...
Owh no ...dont worry...Im more than happy...and you dont need to ask permission...its on the internet ...do with it what you want. I was just wondering.
You are spot on that some antennas can perform "oke" in one situation and in another "its terrible' ..I think i have made those remarks in that...
Sure...it was an example to visualize DB.
Many find it hard to understand how something isolated can still hold currents.
And yes.... while the 'difference' between the two are large...the "impact" of it can still be of large influence perhaps we diagree on that.
And i would state...
It still...
Good to see how critical things can be.
Perhaps u realise...but just to have it said... isolated doesnt always mean no wanted or unwanted currents...
Imagine a yagi... with isolated elements..
That thing works... ...just a couple metal pieces isolated from each other....
The same is true for...
Guys...
Its freezing here, and with the wind blowing brr...cold outside...
Anyway.. "trick"
Its just a word...and yes, that word leaves(at least to me) a impression:
Pay attention...what is going on.... Thats cause we all know
Theory is often not understood, which makes people...
Just catching up... if seen the first PDF in this thread..
Oke.. u have a J-pole...
how will you attach it ?
Maybe you should include a mast say X meters (x= find out worst case) long 5cm away ?
And i read a couple times "tricks"to show a good average gain value..
Those "tricks"... for whom...
The program has features that will warn if things are "questionable"
However, it still is a software...and it can be fooled....like the "diesel software"
For that reason the user should be aware of what he provides for data.
For some reason people seem to blame the software each time however...
Oke..catching up...and found an example...
like this:
What i would like to ask.... whats the "fuzz" about tappering ?
Nec2 is known to provide less accurate results regarding tappering
(ps : says who ? With what accuracy?)
yes, ! with large diameter differences if tappered elements are used...
I dont know a sue ? If never had someone constructing a radio for me..
Saying that... i think i maybe know who u r reffering to ?
Hmm..... not sure...
A very nice person...different ...like most of us hihi.
Was it sue u mean ?
@ Marconi... which model u need online .?
@ Marconi... Yes you have, and i will not forgive or forget.
@ Marconi..(and u guys:-)) .. im on now...but not that often ..
I do read from time to time, wont answer due to several reasons.
one would be: i simply wont read all atm... and im not willing...
