Warmup is not enough! LOL Clearly you have never been in a circle of say 12 guys that talk each night on SSB. The guys with Cobra's or Unidens and even RCI2950 rock steady the guys on Galaxy's, VR9000's and the like drifting all over the place and constantly having to tune them when ever they...
Not quit what I was hopping for! LOL Thanks though. The AI answer on google was not any better.
I was wanting a more human level of input from practical experince and or technicians setting up both for customers etc....
I am mostly wondering about the AM and SSB audio between the two.
For...
I am considering this. I have a hole in my living room wall from a 1980's cable TV instalation that is just pluged with some caulk. I could easily slap a Samlex power supply and my President Lincoln next to my computer. That would be smaller than a shoe box for the foot print! Not sure what...
Yes I agree! I often have claimed that RCI 2950 and President Lincoln/HR2510/2600 hit a great compromise between layout, number of controls and features and number of 2nd functions. I understand that as you add features you need to add a menu but Chinese radio's are known for a menu system that...
First why would you remove the pot from the outside and put it inside? Why put what ever you made into a cardboard box? I know some idiots like to let the smoke out but this is a pun gone too far!
I would love it if someone developed a mod with capacitor changes that would get the 3DB down on the bottom end to 150hz and the 3db down top to 4500 to 4800Hz! It would be an audio beast satisfying 99.9% of people! The stock 300hz to 3000hz makes sense from an engineering stand point if...
Well I just got one for $207 so I pulled the trigger. I know I am a sucker too! LOL
To my way of thinking it is a poor mans Stryker 955 with 3X the feature set. If the AM audio is 85% or greater that of the Stryker 955 it is worth every penny!
Now I need to build a 4 or 6 transistor amp and...
So outside of power output I was woundering if anyone has done a head to head with the two radio's in terms of TX audio mostly but also all other parameters?
I am never going to purchase a Stryker 955 due to price point alone.
I am going to assume that the Stryker 955 has better AM audio and...
Guys if the Cobra 138XR has not been butchured their audio chain has a simple compression circuit in it as well. Not on par with the GE but it does have compression very mild. You can get them for far less and those are SSB as well. That is what Mike of Mikes Radio Repair told me at least a long...
You where probably hanging out with guys that worshiped at the alter of the Cobra 2000. To me those are just a Cobra 148 GTL, a freq. counter, cheap power supply and cheap alarm clock at a stupid markup then and now. Not that any of the above is bad just not as good as the GE!
Back when a...
I am a powerless victim! LOL
It is a predatory practice! It is no different than KGB honey trap in occupied Berlin! LOL
I ordered a QT-60. I do not need it at all! LOL....It was 20% off but it was not even a good bundle!
You want a 1 to 1.5 watt dead key in a bipolar powered CB radio and just let the radio swing with out anything like super swing or NPC. That is with a single final radio. So think Cobra bipolar not mosfet finaled 25, 29, 148 etc.......If you can not live with that you need to bypass the driver...
Thanks!! I was hoping to purchase a Pride DX300 but they always go for stupid money on Ebay!
I am glad I asked because Iw as going to go with 2500 volts. So I will go for the less is more route.
I was going to use your High Voltage and Low Voltage boards in a Pride amp but now I am thinking...
So I have a bunch of odd ball parts that have slowly found their way into my parts bin.
I think I have some place around 10-20 4X150A mostly Jan 7034 NOS in various questionable states. About half of them are still sealed in their Eimace or Jan Packaging NOS. The rest are still sealed int he...
They are under $5 each on the ebay. I have not used them but we are all familar with this family of parts in past products that where fairly expensive in the past. Add a voltage regulator if the radio you are installing it in does not 3V-5V internaly and you have a lot of performance for cheap!
