    4:1 current balun

That is a totally different beast than a 4:1 balun.

    11 meter is very quiet?

Many people talk trash on running power in a mobile, but I seem to be doing much better with it. I'm guessing that the receive on the icom helps me out, but 2 cq's on 38 resulted in as many contacts on a pretty dead band. 1229 Texas and 171 utah. You just squeeze your trigger and let me do...

    Replace 2sb754 with tip36?

I already installed the tip36 and keyed the radio with the amp disabled. The radio now has output. While the radio is "fixed" I wasn't certain if it was ok to just leave it. Based on your answer I assume there will be more current available, but the output will not change unless the radio is...

    Replace 2sb754 with tip36?

Is that your goofy way of saying just order the correct replacement part?

    Replace 2sb754 with tip36?

I'm working on a 695015BR ranger board and I have a tip36 in stock. The tip36 is often compared to the max-mod, and the max-mod is an acceptable replacement for the 2sb754. If this is ok, is this a drop in, or will other adjustments need to be made due to the additional current available...

    Reasonable transportable static mobile antenna?

Did you notice it being somewhat directional with that setup?

    2022 Surburban antenna mount options

Yes, but those aren't typically considered "ball mounts." The name on the other hand is marketing genius. Put a 5,000 watt antenna on a Super Gainer lip mount and you'll be gettin' out like a boss!

How would you mount it without holes or magnets?

    RCI 2995dx cf

I typically let other people get the deals unless I really want something, but this time I just took it. I knew these radios were expensive, but after looking them up they are insane. Hopefully it's just the AM regulator, as the receive seems pretty good and the PA sounds fine.

    Reasonable transportable static mobile antenna?

I got the 3 element yagi today, and I think it will work pretty well. It's actually much easier to assemble than I expected. I'm thinking I need to find some tubes or something to keep the setscrews from falling out during transport. It had a great match sitting on a picnic table lol.

It arrived safely and looks incredibly good. The factory shipping box was a pleasant surprise. Thanks!

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

I'd put cable anywhere you'd like if you could explain how a lead acid battery generates 14+ volts.

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

The only thing I didn't add is another ground from batteries to block. The batteries each read .003 volts from terminal to valve cover with the factory cables. Since my amp is grounded to the frame, I don't think another battery ground would do anything since the amp never sees battery voltage...

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

I could probably send mine back and get one with an external regulator, but I'm not certain that it's worth a few hundred dollars to get an extra half a volt. I could try replacing the entire harness from the ecm to the alternator, but again, is it worth the hassle to maybe get half a volt...

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

This appears to be an edit that I missed. You don't think a 374 amp alternator is enough for an 8 pill? How would more batteries help? I've always been under the impression that typical auto batteries don't do anything above 13 volts. After adding the alternator to frame ground my voltage...

    Reasonable transportable static mobile antenna?

Even if a vertical signal doesn't flip after a bounce, the typically quoted 6db loss is still less than the beams gain. I'm not certain it would be worth the fuss to mount it vertically, but it could be done. Maybe I've just heard so many flat beams on my verticals that I just kinda discounted...

    Reasonable transportable static mobile antenna?

I can modify my existing mast fairly easily to get 23 feet above the cab, but I'm thinking that is too low? If I made a new mast it would be a 2 piece crank up with a 22' bottom section that could be cranked up anywhere from 20' to 37' above the cab. Is 23' above the cab too low?

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

It's a 2005 dodge ram diesel, so it can't be too new and fancy I wouldn't think. I would think that a slipping belt would be pretty apparent under a long full load, but maybe the instantaneous demand could be causing slippage? My amp clamp doesn't show much over 100 amp draw, so it isn't even...

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

There aren't that many places I can drill and have access to install a nut and seal the connection. It's just easier for me to tack a bolt than fuss with drilling, and it will also allow for a shorter cable. As far as I know all vehicles have a voltage regulator, but I would be very unhappy...

    Effects of amplifier voltage fluctuations?

So the ecm controlled voltage regulator should be able to instantly adjust output during speech peaks, but only within half a volt? Is the half a volt due to a technical reason, or is the half a volt just a typical variance? It just confused me because at full output I don't even have half a...
