    Mobile installs aren't fun

It isn't even snugged up yet. It's mostly just showing the clean spot on the rusty frame and the strip of butyl behind the back edge of the ring to get a watertight seal. Just running a single antenna, not many keydown competitions around here.

    New First 2 Meter Radio

The menus aren't intuitive. If I use it often it isn't terrible, but if I don't use mine weekly, I forget. It's really annoying, but then again, they are getting pretty cheap now. Unless you want a digital voice mode, the 2730 has pretty much anything you'd want other than ssb.

    Mobile installs aren't fun

I've done some quick and dirty installs and had pretty good luck up to about 200 watts. Anytime I went over 300 I'd have problems. I'm just trying to do the best I can with a limited understanding. It would be pretty nice if one could just install a "ground loss meter" and know where they...

    Mobile installs aren't fun

Glued and almost ready for install I think the plate is 19"x24". Well worth the effort unless the no ox fails me and I have ground issues. I dunno

    Mobile installs aren't fun

Working on a mobile 8 pill install and figured I'd share some pics so y'all can tell me how I should have done it lol. I'm still waiting on my bonding stuff to arrive next week, but I want my headliner back in. Amp ground wire crimped, soldered, butyl wrapped and covered with tape. Added...

    New First 2 Meter Radio

I think the 7900 is discontinued also, that is why they are so cheap. They are practically indestructible, but they aren't dual recieve, crossband repeat, dstar, or all the other fancy stuff, so nobody really wants them. It isn't like buying a used export that is likely on its last leg, or...

    New First 2 Meter Radio

It is an R, but I think all of the radios just say FT-7800 on them. They may not look like it, but the faceplate is removable.

    New First 2 Meter Radio

I started with an FT-7800, then bought another. They are very simple and inexpensive dual band radios. I then bought an IC-2730, and I have to look at a book often to figure it out. I only keep the IC-2730 because of its features, not because I like the radio.

    307 Amps?

I'm driving it with 100 watts and in theory it should run cool and last a while.

    307 Amps?

I got a pic from the builder. I know the bias has a diode with 2 caps under those resistors someplace, but it's pretty hard to see in the pic. Good, bad, or just another copy?

I just heard back from jim, and he said he uses megawatt supplies.

    307 Amps?

Why does nobody do ab anymore? Is it really that complicated? Is ab that much better tha b? Is it just higher draw for less output turns people off?

    Watt meter

I'd spend a little extra for an ameritron. I thought my station was good to go until I tried an ameritron awm-35b and realized I had an ALC overshoot problem. The response is incredible, and well worth the money for the peace of mind.

    307 Amps?

It might even be better to keep it completely anonymous and just use a third party for the money? If you are a legitimate amp guy, contact a pillar of this community and we can anonymously run the money through them. None of us are stupid, so nobody is getting a free amp here. This isn't an...
