    Testing ground

The best way I've found was to disconnect the house electric meter ground rod, if possible. Measure for any AC voltage from the house meter case to the ground rod. If not removable, pound another 4 footer into the ground as close as you can to the original rod without touching it, and use that...

Supporting WWDX without using Amazon? That is one of my enemy's companies.

As the title eludes to; Is there a way to contribute to WWDX without an Amazon account? I closed mine shortly after the 2016 elections. Never mind... I found the links below the other one. Don't know HOW I missed it!

    I'M back

Same here. I think my 'user name' was the same as my 11M handle (Number Three), but it said I didn't exist. ;) Anyhoo, I'm back today too. I've been gone since at least, 2007.

No tune or load on my Heathkit HL2200

Then I'd run through the doubler diode bank with an ohmeter and look for failures. Is your front meter on the amp reading HV present? If so, you can assume the transformer is fine.

No tune or load on my Heathkit HL2200

Glad to hear you're on your toes inside that critter! And yep...... That would do it. Yeah, something sacrificed itself in the plate voltage circuit. The Glitch resistor on top of the metering board usually takes the first whack and almost always goes 'open' , even if everything else survived...

An SB-220 needing lots of attention

You and Rich (AG6K) discuss here, mocking-up the cathode-to-grid "load impedance" using a resistor between the cathode and grid at the tube sockets.... I'm assuming that would be a 100 Ohm resistor in each tube socket to simulate 50 Ohms.. Is this correct? I've read about this procedure...

An SB-220 needing lots of attention

I did the same thing (placing a NOMEX plug and socket in the faceplate wiring). It sure made things easier to manage.

No tune or load on my Heathkit HL2200

This is not a good environment to be venturing into without a healthy fear of the death risk you're facing inside this amp. What happened when you left the cover off and fired it up: There is what is called "shorting bar", or "safety interlock" in your 2200 (nice amp btw). This was shorted to...
