32 is about the max mic gain on SSB before it gets a bit hairy on sideband. These are great little radios. Hard to beat at the price point and those with ver 3 firmware go down to 24.8 mhz with a couple of extra bands. My 2 are both version 2 unfortunately.

I found the stock mic was a bit hot at full but 32 was right on the limit for my voice. 30 to 32 and you won't go wrong and hopefully no pffs in the audio.

The 703 is a well built amp and the power transistors are cheap if you do blow it up. Its the biggest of the lot. If it will fit in your car and suits your budget, then that's the one to get.

You can buy just the kl203 boards fully populated ready to fit into the existing case. A bit fiddly but much cheaper.

Why would you want to use a G90 on AM anyway? Its' forte is SSB.
