There are alot of stupid people in the world. Having a badge doesn't mean you have any special intelligence or knowledge of the laws.
My best friend had a similar experience. He got pulled over years ago because he had an antenna on his car. Not speeding, no broken tail lights, it was the...
I had a serious issue over here about 18 years ago, I had a customer at the time who bought a five pill base amp. He didn't really have any interference problems but he had noise that came through on his transmission. I blamed the power supply and a million other things and after going through...
I think there is a singular diode all by itself on the metering board by the front. Usually they always break open when there are problems like this, or shorted tubes etc. check to see if its still there.
Tubes are easier. Once people get a chance to experience how fun these hg transistor amps are, they usually wind up buying a tube amp after they dick around with it long enough .
The next step in diagnosis is going to be to remove connections on the relay except for the one to the jacks, and start using a meter to check for continuity in and out of the relay keyed and unkeyed to make sure the signal is getting through the relay
So the way that I'm reading this, it sounds like the bypass works when the box is off. But when you put the on switch on the relay automatically comes on and you no longer have a bypass and it's going into the amplifier correct? If that's the case then your keying circuit is bad. The relay...
With the amplifier off and unkeyed simply take a multimeter and look for continuity between the antenna and the driver jack. If you have continuity then that means the amp should be receiving and watts should also be flowing through the other way with the amp in standby or off.
Id like to see a meter on the input side looking at the input tune. If the filament choke is not sufficient or up to snuff you will get a symptom as you described. The input tune will look like its varying and be unsteady. Or could be bad 50 year old tubes.
I wish all the remaining Heath kit sb220s would just die already. Everything about them is a pain in the ass. They were only fair when they were built and 40 to 50 years later they suck.
Aside from phantoms and all the other sweep tube boxes still kicking around, I've never seen a less forward...
I say this all the time. Dc boxes are a race to the bottom.
And tbh, toob boxes are a hard sell when you charge what its worth to build. Everyone is still on the maco 300 and phantom pricing plan. People remember $800 ameritron boxes. Those days are gone people.
