@HomerBB My 259b had high SWR readings and this is what was wrong with it. (Not my video but it was the same failure)

I have a 1978 AV-101 The Avanti AV-101A appears to be a revision. I assume it came after 1978.

Do you think that the AV-101A was cut to center on the new 40 channel band? (its production run started 1979)

It will be at least few days before I start to assemble and put this up, If anyone needs detailed pictures of any of its parts just ask. This was like opening a time capsule... took me back to 1973. I don't this the warranty is any good. lol

Well my Original new in the box Avanti AV-101 made it! Had to pick it up at the local post office today. Filling out the warranty card now.

I'd recommend wrapping a common mode current choke in the coax a few feet below the ring. I know, bringing it back from the grave... I have seen this recommended on this forum several times but never any conclusions as to if it helped hurt or did not have any effect?

Now I think I am going to want the Astrobeam... simple easy uses a TV antenna rotor, out performs the PDLII. I will never hang another moon raker. @Marconi have you ever modeled the AV-150? and what do you think of her?
