    what kind of mobile antenna?

Why not pick yourself up a couple replacement whips and tune them for the different parts of the 10 meter band? I carry three..One for 11 meters. one for 28.500, and one for 29.500. they get me the coverage I need. Seems to work great for me:)

    what kind of mobile antenna?

I wouldn't knock it till you try it. It is comperable if not better that most I have seen OR tried.

    what kind of mobile antenna?

I have used both the 10-k and the sirio 5000 turbo and I have had better performance with the sirio. Been using it over three years now and would never use anything else. I mainly use the Sirio for ten meter operations and it's amazing how well it works for DX.

Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

Hmmm, Very interesting read. I will however, Hold my reply until the completion of your cause, effect, and cure strategy.

Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

I don't think you will offend anyone, I would just love to hear your take on this age old issue. I haven't had the time to complete my project so I cannot say that seperating the RF from the bias voltage was the cure or not. So....Let's have it.

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

Thanks Loosecannon, This particular modification has come up alot on multible forums over the years. I would also like to add this to your perfect explanation, Before you look to adjust the antenna coil or L8 as listed on some radios, Please check BOTH VCO voltages Where the RCI2950DX is...

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

Yes you are correct, But acording to most the problem cannot be reproduced. I tried this modification almost ten years ago with no decernable difference. Thanks for posting a link to that thread Jeff, It explains it better than I could. I must apoligize as I didn't mean to sound agressive, I...

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

:blink::huh::sad: I think you should go back and re-read this thread. It has been mentioned more than several times. *******IMAGE REJECTION********

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

M42duster it isn't just that they are just pulling your chain...That modification was intended to cure an entirely DIFFERENT problem that no one including the manufacturer could reproduce. I have to say again as I have said before Image rejection and a lower noise floor are two completely...

    what kind of mobile antenna?

If you can't mount the 102" whip then the sirio performer 5000 is the next best thing. Just make sure you you use the spring. which would give you around 106"... Now the sirio on the other hand is 108" long electrically. If you could hard mount it in the center of the roof it would be very...

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

It's ashame you have to go through so much trouble only to find out there is no difference in the before and after. But if it will help people to understand the difference between image rejection and "noise" reduction then it's all good. Two completely different animals. Just make sure...

    EBAY SELLERS

I cant see those prices unless you are a die hard hardcore collector that is very nostalgic. Sure they look nice and bring about memories of days gone by, but not very usefull to combat the hash and trash of todays 11 meter use.

where are all the new radio's

Some places do ask for a valid call when ordering anything. I have orderd alot of things from Universal radio, HRO, AES, and a few others. I guess it depends on who you talk with at the time you place an order.

Shockwave is correct. the variable control circuit in these amplifiers is useless And changing out the sandbar resistors and replacing the stock chokes with the updated ones with the thicker wire wrap will only have a margional impact, And they may already be using the uopdated chokes in the...

    Voltage drop

I was thinking the same thing. I would suggest that if you find a bad cap that you rebuild the voltage doubler with caps of roughly double the mf value. This will help stablize the amplifiers voltage drop while under load. Just be very carefull to make sure those caps are discharged before...

where are all the new radio's

I would have to agree with this. Most of the ssb cb ops that I have heard are using rigs like this. And I also think a big reason is that these new "export" rigs are so unreliable that most of which are not worth the money. Extreemely noisy front ends, sensitive output sections, overly...

Metal Telescopic Ext Gain SMA Female Baofeng etc...

I have used a similar telescopic antenna and although cumbersome to use it did work well. However, those telescopic antennas are very flimsy and are very easy to deform. And the before posts are also correct as with running a larger antenna you run the risk of breaking the sma jack. I...
