No analyzer, what do you mean by not dc grounded?. So that coil slides up and down on radiator for adjustment and tge end just goes thru that hole? I might make up something similar

So antenna is up and im having some trouble with swr. At 2 watts its good 1.2:1 20 watts 1.5:1. And 80 watts and up 1.8:1 no worse than that. I have a gamma ring for a match. Im considering redoing the match with a coil. I cant get swr any better with length adjustment or the center wire tap...

This makes sense to me, it sounds like the problem lies in the antenna and getting it tuned properly

also about the antenna, I made a 5/8 wave but i think the length is more like a .64 it was 272" with 1:3 swr but it was lowest up in the 10 meter band so i lengthened it to 278" now the swr is lowest in 11 meters but higher in the reading at 1:7. not to mention all the new problems

NO... i realize higher swr means less powere that the antenna puts out , but for some reason my watt meter is saying my radio is putting out 5 watts when turned all the way down, where it should be putting out 2. so im wonder ing if a bad antenna can draw more watts out of a radio, or my meters...

im trouble shooting a rash of mysteries with my set up. im using a home-brew 5/8 wave antenna. i had swr at around 1.3:1, i have been trying to get it better and things got worse and now my rado seems to be acting up. my watt meter which i was pretty sure worked fine, say my 2950 dx is dead...

its a thing thats plugs into the radio on the inside, thats adds the 11 meter band, its illegal but you can get them with the radio or on ebay.

Cant go wrong with a rci ranger 2950dx either, there is a chip that plugs in for the cb bands, its a freat radio for the price. Its 10-12 meters, so if you get your ham ticket you have a radio already. I got mine after i git the galaxy 949, the 2950dx is way better in sideband.

string, rope, or something non conductive. or if it must be wire use several zip ties together to attach. then you can easily tighten it up
