When looking at my carrier on a oscilloscope, the carrier with no audio, will change size when i touch the radio. Is this a rf grounding issue, if so what to i ground and to where? Ground to neg on power supply or to actual earth?
I have tge same dipole set up in my roof. 6" off the ridge. Cant see it at all, then upgraded to a vertical dipole in a tree on 100' coax rg8x. Talked skip all over scince last summer with the horizontal.
Also make sure you run a clean signal so your prick neighbor doesnt catch on
After reading all the threads on them, i undersatand a lot more. Do i need. A matching device if i go with the ground plane style with radials? If radial are 1/4
Wave, will it still need a matching device? Do they need to be same as the driven element in length to match in theory? What...
Ya this is kinda new to me, im atarting with the basics. Not really sure about all that you were talking about, but doing some reading about modulation and what you want to see on a scope for a am signal. I have some small cbs
From years past i want to see if i can learn to tune them
Oh, sovexplain how it works, i know you adjust the dead carrier to be 1 above and 1 below and the modulation willvshow a wave from carrier. So if the scope is not big enough what will happen on the screen, i dont get it. Will you not be able to adjust the carrier into the screen?
I can get a 5 mghz o scope for 15 bucks but not sure if thats big enough. I read somewhere no leas that 15 mghz for 11 meter band. Is that a good guidline?
Not sure but MMM seens to kinda know what he is doing, thats is some serious audio quality. And to be honest that video kinda makes me want a little of that high fidelity audio! Got down..... Got down. Lol
Im currently running a 1/2 wave vertical dipole in a tree, its not grounded at all. How is it possible to ground it with out throwing off the balance of the dipole, or any antenna for that matter. Im wirking on a 5/8 wave endfed wire. How woukd i ground that?
I guess as long as it isnt between...
Im in the process of teaching myself basic electronics related to ham radio and studying for tech class test. Im curious how amplifiers work. Say we had a 10 meter amp with 2 sd1446 transistors. Its fed from a transmitter outting out 2 watts. Does the signal go thru in a series or parralel thru...
Nice, keep the updates coming, what are you using as a balun? I did the loops of coax and couldnt get better than a 1:5 swr. Then after this thread started i moved my vertical up higher( bottom is now about 7' off the ground and i have no balun, just coax running perfectly perpindicular to...
Maybe 60-70 yards from power lines, and they did just put up new higher voltage ones so maybe thats it. There is nowhere to move it to so im prob gonna leave it as a back up
Yes, sorry , the vertical is quite compared to the horizontal. Which i thought i read somewhere a horizontal would pick up less noise and interfierance. How is yours as a vertical? Im thinking om going with the vertical unless i find the horizontal transmits better. I already used the horizontal...
Seems to be getting out good, im in ny, conditions hace been up and down latly. I can get to florida, southern east coast states, this jamica past week. I also still have my original dipole up on my roof that is horizontal. I just finally ran a lenght of coax to tie in to my new base location so...
And is it suitable for doing alignment/tuning on a 10/12meter mobile radio? I am in the process of learning how to do some basic tuning and adjustments and would like to start getting some equipment, i found one for sale localy for 125$. Is this unit big enough?
