Nice build there VK, as you know  i have been looking into the center fed horizontal version. never know know i might take your lead and build one you can never have enough antennas :ROFLMAO:
i have the wilson and not very happy about the swr on it 1.5 is the best i can get and i did drill a hole in my truck roof mounted almost dead center back jus a little. My question is will the sirio mount right to the connector for the wilson or would i have to change everything??
My road devil mic started getting the scratchy problem, did the same as LY with contact cleaner and just a little wd40 haven't had a problem since but i don't use it a lot. Glad to see you like the radio.
I run a 5' fiberglass on the rear corner of my 4runner with a spring. My 4runner is tall and i do hit branches but it was way worse with my wilson 1000 mag mount and it seems to work as well as the wilson. Made my own mounting bracket tha bolts between the the tailgate and the body.

MB this is the company that makes the antenna you may have already found it but if not here you go.

my rm italy does that if i click the mic switch fast sometimes it fixes it i think the relay is sticking on mine. Sounds like the same problem if i turn amp off its ok again.
Eacky, I wouldn't cut elements but instead just push then in, that way if you decide to go 11 meter or sell the antenna it will still work on 11 meter. Just a idea.
