Never mind, I found the problem. Cap at JP36 ( installed as part of RFX-75 installation) had also failed.
Thank You to everyone who has taken the time to be so helpful over the years. And Thank You WorldWideDX for providing a place to compile all of the past conversations regarding radio...
Hi,
Recently I decided to install a Jetstream (part# JTCS3M) 3 position antenna switch which would allow me to take advantage of SSB on my Galaxy dx 949, the rfx 75 on my Cobra 29 ltd chrome, along with some of the noise toys on some much older radios I have purchased over the years.
I spoke...
I tried a 2nd radio, nothing changed, same result.
Installed new antenna radials. Testing with a Astatic PDC7 swr meter I am able to adjust the swr meter's needle to the set line. The Dosy TC3001P swr meter still will not adjust to the set line. I have two TC3001Ps. Both have similar issues...
Yup. I tried 2 different radios same result. When using a dummy load, both radios checked out just fine.
So. I disassembled/cleaned antenna components. Checked coax, antenna, antenna mount for continuity. Installed new antenna radials. I am able to check swr with a Astatic PDC7 swr meter but...
The problem is suddenly my swr's have jumped from 1.3 to 2.5 - 3. And I'm seeing the antenna light come on when the radio is connected to the antenna. Radio checks out just fine w/dummy load. Coax shield and center wire each have continuity. Disassembled antenna set up, inspected and cleaned all...
This is a Cobra 29 Ltd Black Chrome w/RX75 built by Custom CB Radios. Which I am using as a base at home. My antenna set up is a 102" stainless steel whip with two 102" copper wire radials.
I am also reading 51 Ohms when I test each end of the antenna coax with dummy load attach to opposite end. This is RG-58/U coax, which has worked just fine for the last 7 years.
Hi,
When I check the resistance on my dummy load, I get 50 Ohms.
Should I see the same resistance when testing for resistance at the radio end of my coax coming in from my antenna?
Thanks,
jimbowilly
Hi,
Over the past 7yrs, I have been using a 102" stainless steel whip w/two 102"/10ga. wire ground plane radials as my base cb antenna. This antenna set up is isolated atop a 10ft treated 4"x4". Although I have had no lightening strikes, should I add an earth ground to my antenna setup?
Thanks...
Tough trying to figure out set up issues when no one replies while talking on my radio or posting threads. Reviewing my original set up notes and just working to restore my set up has refreshed my memory enough to get me through many of the issues I'm currently attempting to overcome.
Ok. I tested with a 50 Ohm dummy load and dead key swr's are 1 for channels 1 and 40 on my Dosy TC3001P. I checked both ends of my 50 ft - RG8X coax with the other end attached to my 50 Ohm dummy load. The Ohms were slightly over 51 Ohms(+ a few thousandths). So I disassembled my antenna and...
RCI PPR-RBT1
I hear lots regarding opinions/reviews of this radio.
I have as of yet. Found anything regarding schematic, pcb layout, vr's adjustments...
Anyone have this information?
Possibly this is the same as another radio when ignoring the new mp3, and Thin Film Transistor display...
I double checked the instructions.
Ok.
I re-read the instructions for the RFX75 w/mosfet install.
My DX959 came with IRF520.
The jumper JP91 has been removed by manufacturer and, does not make a junction with C210.
JP90 is in place.
I soldered in a at the junction of C210 and JP90.
At...
