K3 Mars Software I tried the software but it only allows the comport to use ports 1-10. Unfortunately my com port is com 18! A windows problem! using Win 7 64bit and have forgotton how to change the com ports for devices. Device manger not giving me any opportunities. Any advice? Dave

257hp Thats a shame but it does seem things have been a bit hit and miss at the magnum factory where those radios are built. We got a batch of S-45's that were total rubbish but the next batch of S45 HP's were great. Brilliant in fact.

S-45HP It is good Magnum are not changing the S-45HP as it is a solid performer and only needs a fan on the heatsink. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Is a Magnum 257 6 pin electret mic a direct fit for the ss4900? Have heard if you get things wrong with the mic on the 4900 it does irreparable damage to the radio. Radio receives but is 2khz off frequency on USB! Looks nice though and board is clean.

processor Doesn't the S-45 have a similar processor to the 257? They seem to work the same...

257HP did you add a fan to the heatsink? was it getting hot? 80W is a lot of power to dissipate in that little chassis without some help.
